29-Year-Old Still Hospitalized After Near Drowning In McLean Stream: Police

A 29-year-old man remains in a hospital days after nearly drowning in a stream in Fairfax County, authorities said.

The man was swimming with friends in the stream near a portion of the Difficult Run River that runs along Georgetown Pike in McLean on Sunday, June 19, just after 6 p.m., Fairfax County police said. 

Authorities said at some point, he dove underwater but did not come back up. His friends rescued him from the water and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Responders rushed him to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Police did not release the man's name or any updates on his condition. 

Detectives don't suspect foul play in the case.
